Privacy Policy

Watar — last updated September 17, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how the Watar mobile application ("Watar", "the app", "we", "us") handles information when you use it. Watar is built to work with as little data as possible, and this policy describes exactly what is (and is not) collected.

Microphone access

Watar uses your device's microphone to detect the pitch of the strings you are tuning. This audio is processed entirely on your device, in real time, purely to calculate pitch. Watar does not record, store, save, or transmit any audio to us or to any third party at any time. Once a tuning reading is calculated, the audio data is discarded immediately.

Advertising

Watar shows ads through Google AdMob to support free use of the app. AdMob may collect and use device identifiers (such as the Android Advertising ID) to serve and measure ads, and to limit how often you see the same ad. This data is handled by Google in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy and their AdMob data disclosure.

You can opt out of personalized advertising, or reset your advertising identifier, through your device's system settings (Settings → Google → Ads on Android).

What we don't collect

Watar does not require you to create an account, does not collect your name, email address, location, contacts, or any other personal information. We do not sell your data. Any tuning history or preferences you set are stored locally on your device only.

Children's privacy

Watar does not knowingly collect personal information from children. The app does not require sign-up or collect identifying information from any user.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date at the top.
